Home Remedies

Here we shall be discussing a few home remedies you can use to get rid of your pimples.

Honey: Honey is of such great use. You can use honey to treat your skin for acne, skin dullness, clogged pores and face packs. The antioxidants present in honey can help to clear the debris from clogged pores. In fact doctors believe that honey has healing properties and use it to dress wounds and injuries.

You can directly apply some honey on your acne and wash it off with cold water after 15 mins. Make you use organic honey. If you wish you can use honey in a face pack also. Use a cotton pad to apply the face pack or honey on your face.

Aloe vera: I’m sure most indian homes have a pot of aloe vera growing in their balconies or gardens. Needless to mention how aloe vera can combat so many problems like acne, hairfall, dandruff, damaged hair, skin dryness, clogged pores, redness and skin irritation.

Due to aloe vera’s natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties it can prevent your breakouts. It can be used to treat both inflammatory and non-inflammatory acne. Apply a thin layer of aloe vera on your face and wait till it dries up. Wash your face with lukewarm water. Do this twice a week to prevent acne.

Coconut oil: Just like other home remedies, coconut oil too has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Two two properties are vital to prevent or reduce acne. Coconut oil can speed up the healing process. It can reduce redness and swelling up of pimples.

Of course you can apply coconut oil on your acne, but try to also consume it internally. Try to use coconut oil while cooking.

Garlic: We’ve all grown up hearing about the benefits and uses of garlic. Typically garlic is used to boost one’s immunity to fight infections and germs. The organosulfur compounds present in garlic have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.

Add garlic to your diet. Use it regularly. Some prefer to chew a whole garlic. However, not everybody likes to consume garlic in this manner. You can use it in sandwiches or make a hot drink from it. For those who do not want to use garlic can switch to garlic powder.

You can directly apply garlic to the pimple but it can cause skin irritation. Also, there are chances of you burning your skin if you leave the garlic on your face for too long. Hence, use garlic very cautiously.

Green Tea: Arich source of polyphenol antioxidants called catechins. People with acne have too much sebum and are low on antioxidants. Antioxidants are important to treat acne as it breaks down chemicals and waste products present in the open acne sore.

A cup of green tea a day will keep the breakouts away. So, try to drink a cup of tea every day. Else you can directly apply some green tea powder on your pimples. Make a paste of yoghurt and green tea powder and apply it on your pimple. Wash it off with cold water after fifteen minutes. This will help. Apply it twice a week for it to be effective.

Tea Tree oil: You can directly apply some tea tree oil on your face. Tea Tree oil too has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties which will help combat pimples.

Do’s And Don’ts

Do not rub or burst your pimples: Acne or breakout can cause skin irritation and can tempt you to burst them. This is a big NO NO! This will make it worse. When you burst or pop your pimples you are only spreading it to other areas of your face. This will lead to further infection.

Squeezing a pimple can push the bacteria and debris further into your skin and hence your pimples can pop up again. Therefore, avoid touching or bursting them.

Using harsh cleansers: Avoid using harsh soaps or face-washes. Regular soaps that can maintain the pH of your skin will do. Try to maintain the pH of your skin around 5.5. This will reduce the risk of acne flare-ups. As an alternative you can use mild cleansers that you can make at home.

Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water! This is simple, isn’t it? Six to 8 litres a day is a must. Keeping yourself hydrated will heal acne sores. If your skin is dry it will lead to irritation resulting in pimples. When you are hydrated your skin develops new skin cells to heal the sores.

Avoid oily food: Keep your hand off oily and fried food. I’m sure it will be extremely hard to avoid them, instead you cut down the consumption of oily food.

Reduce stress: Talk to optimistics people, be around friends and family, sleep well, do not skip meals, have a balanced diet, limit alcohol consumption and exercise regularly.

Avoiding stress will avoid hormonal imbalance. If you follow the above mentioned tricks you can not only avoid pimples but also lead a happy and rejoiced life. Stress can increase androgen hormones that will increase the risk of breakouts.

These simple and easy remedies and hacks will help you improve your skin health, have a clear, glowing and beautiful skin. Try them out and you will not regret it!
